Excellent little battery charger!

I have a 1967 Ford truck that can be quite a drain on the battery at times, especially during the colder months. I purchased this before last winter, and never once had an issue with the battery being too low or too cold, despite some pretty frigid temps. I set this on a shelf just in front of and above my truck, and leave the lead to the charger hanging. I then wired the battery end to my battery and channeled it so the plug end can be pulled through the grill. It's nearly invisible when it's not in use, but is very quick and easy to plug up. I've gotten used to just plugging up the truck every time I'm done with it, and this little puppy brings it up to full charge fairly quickly!

Highly recommended, especially if you have an older car that either doesn't get driven much or is a heavy drain on the battery.

Excellent Product

The Deltran SuperSmart Battery Tender Plus 12-volt 1.25 AMP Battery Charger has done the job for me exactly as expected. I keep my fold-down travel trailer in my garage all year around, except when I use it for camping.
I had another brand of trickle charger hooked up to the battery on my trailer, but it eventually overcharged my battery, causing it to burn out. This Deltran Battery Tender brings the battery up to full charge, then shuts off automatically until the charge goes down a bit, then brings the charge up to normal again. I highly recommend it.

This charger/tender works exactly as promised. I like the fact that you dont need to babysit it. My only concern is that it gets very warm while charging my trolling battery. That may be normal but should there be a problem, there is a 10 year warranty. How many products do you know of which have THAT?

Great Product

I purchased a couple of these units for cars that are store for a week or two between drives. The choice of cables allowed me to set things up so that I dont ever need to access the battery or leave a door/window open. I just plug the unit in and my batteries are always fully charged. After having to jump start cars a couple of times, it is really great to get into the car and have it "come to life" instantly!

Great product. Worth every penny. I recommend the 25" extension too...

Deltran Smart Charger

I ordered the Deltran Smart charger (tender) as it's the same unit that BMW uses. It had nothing but great reviews and so far I'm very pleased. I have it hooked to my Generater to keep the battery charged and ready as it's Hurricane season in FL. They claim their charging method will actually make the battery last longer, that would be nice, but time will tell. Comes with two end, standard clips and type that you can bolt on to the battery lugs. There is a disconnect in the cable so you can leave it attached to the battery and just plug the charger. The side on the battery even had a nice little plug so you can't short out the battery if the cable is moving around after being disconnected. Very pleased so far and would buy another one if I needed it.

Works as expected

I have several of the Battery Tender Jr's and they all work perfect. I never have a dead battery on items I rarely use. It's better to have several of these vs on multi battery charger, so you can connect them to vehicles that are not grouped together. The multi chargers are good if you take the batteries out and charge them together but who wants to do that. Just buy a few of these and hook right up to the vehicle or boat where they sit. Use an extension cord if needed.

If you have an ATV, motorcycle, scooter, moped, or boat, the Deltran line of Battery Tenders are lifesavers.
Easy to install and use, and they work great. My old scooter used to slowly loose charge over the winter which would make it difficult to start, but my Deltran battery tender has eliminated that problem. The battery stays charged no matter how long I let it sit without riding.

Super product to meet a special need

I bought this charger to trickle charge my house battery on my 36 foot boat. My present charger only can address two batteries (1 for each engine) which leaves the house battery without a charger. The house charger controls all my electronics. The battery was easy to install and works like a charm. Great job.

Excellent Charger to maintain batteries!!!

I use this product on two of my cars that are only driven a few times a month. Before I had these chargers I would have to go out and crank the car and drive it at least once or twice a week to keep the battery from dying. I think I bought 3 batteries in one year because they kept going bad. I have these installed on the car with the charging lead "hardwired" in directly to the battery and coming out of the front grill area of the car. This enables the charger to be plugged up relatively easy. My wife drives one of the vehicles so this makes it a lot easier than hooking up the charger with the other supplied alligator clips. Since it comes with two leads; the alligator clips style and the kind you wire in, you can wire the one to your car and then use the other to charge any other batteries you need to charge. The great things about this charger is that it's small, not noisy like some of the others I have used, and it cuts itself off automatically when the battery is charged. Overall this brand of battery charger is the best I have seen; I have had one for 3 years with no problems whatsoever.

Simply the best charger you can buy. Don't mess around with the cheap walmart varity stuff, you only waste money going that route. Get the batery tender and forget about it. I use it to keep 2 motorcycles and a tractor ready to go.

Simple, fun, well made, accurate

I am doing some AC work as a homeowner and have been lusting after one of these tools, and when I saw the Amazon price and read the reviews it sold itself. Got it and within minutes was entertaining myself and kids by checking the temperature of various things using the laser. Appears to be accurate, as others have posted. Very simple to use, even the instructions are very brief as there isn't much to it. One thing I'd like to see is a way to turn backlight off if you don't need it for increased battery life, but its ok the way it is.

This unit feels professional - and I'm pretty picky with tools. Great bargin! Fun showing my kids temperature of oven, clouds, bricks, interior walls, etc. As others have mentioned, good for cooking too. Note: instructions indicate this type of unit is not 100% accurate on shiny metal objects - common to all of this type.

This great tool solved some cooking problems for me by allowing me to check the temperature in my pans in different situations to ensure food is browned perfectly. Too often things got burned on my electric range. In frustration, I was ready to buy temperature controlled items such as an electric fry pan, griddle, etc. I don't have counter space for them and didn't want to, but didn't want to serve burned food either. This tool allows me to monitor temperatures instantly at any point in cooking so I know if the heat needs to be adjusted. For example, a 'high' setting may get me off to a quick start, but when does it become too much of a good thing? Now I can tell. Is my oven performing correctly? my fridge? No more burned stuff here (or improperly cooled items) and no need to buy appliances I don't have space for. It's very useful when grilling outside as well, and around the house. For example, does it make a difference at my thermostat if I close this vent or that, close this door or that? Now that I know, I've actually been able to lower my electric bill. I've found multiple uses for the tool. Its instant readout is as simple as pointing and pulling the trigger. The display is good sized and easy to read. The red laser dot tells you exactly what spot you're measuring, near or far, and it turns itself on and off. Can't beat that. This item paid for itself just as fast as it reads temps. Although it has a storage case, I don't need it since the tool never gets put away. It lives next to my range and is used regularly.

This is a god send we just had a brick pizza oven built out on the patio and had no idea how we would know if we were close to the right temperture, then my son seen this and what a life saver we have done pizza's and also a pig roast where we had to keep the temp up to 650* and the food came out beautiful!!! IT must work great or we wouldn't be bragging about the pork or pizza's we made.The price is also a plus i would buy another if i had to.

Does not work on Honda Accord

Even with key in the accessory position, this fully-charged device continuously "beeped" in booster-mode no matter how much I tried twisting the adapter plug into the DC outlet on a Honda Accord.

Bottom line: It was unable to recharge the car's battery.

I bought one of these during the winter of '06-07. It stopped working shortly after I bought it (would not charge). I called Black & Decker and they sent me a replacement. Ditto -- did not work, and failed to work exactly the same way as the first. Having only so much storage space in my house for unusable lead batteries, I did not request a third, but instead got new car batteries for both cars, and a good set of jumper cables for each -- which I never needed to use during the much more severe winter of '07-'08.

2005 Honda Pilot battery drained. Could not jump start with another vehicle. Brought the B&D battery booster at Target. Charged battery booster fully as instructed. Could not get it to work properly (tried the ignition key in all the positions). Aslo got the Duracell Instant Jumpstart System. Duracell worked like a charm.

Doesn't work - won't charge / won't boost

I should have listened to so many of the reviews in here. I have the same problems.

The product does not work. I cannot charge the device at all. I have carefully followed the included instructions, but the device instantly changes the charging light to "steady green" (indicating full charge) and the device just beeps constantly when I attempt to charge it. However, the device is not fully charged (once I unplug the charging adapter, the flashlight wont even work!), and it will not boost my car (again, it just beeps constantly if I try).

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK

I bought this for two reasons. First was to jump-start vehicles, second was to provide power for a fan when we go camping. It fails at both tasks. I t would not jump the 3 vehicles i have tried it on. (worthless). Two of the vehicles were SUV's the other was a e-150 cargo van. Maybe it works better on compact cars.....

Took it with us camping and hooked it up to supply power to a small fan. Worked for 15 seconds and then the fan stopped and has never worked again. It was a small 4' 120v ac van.

I am not impressed and will never try to hook any AC devices to it ever again.

It does the job

This charger charges my two Harleys. That's about all I can say. I wish it was little better made. They made the shell out of cheap plastic. If it was made with a metal or heavy plastic case it would have made me feel better about spending the cash.

Must have for motorcycles

I bought this for my Harley and lawn mower. It saved me $93 from having to buy a new Harley battery! Also resurrected my lawn mower battery. Only have had for a week. So far so good. It comes with one quick disconnect hard wire cable. This is a must have for the motorcycle. Don't need to removed seat just plug in, one second. I bought another for the lawn mower.

This little baby will keep your batteries charged up! My two are maintaining the charge on batteries in an ag tractor, a Caterpillar skid steer, ATV, and lawn mower. Now I need one for a two-battery diesel truck that is rarely driven any longer! Should have bought these long ago.

For the money, I think it will serve my needs very well. I have only used it about 2 months, but so far it it doing a Great Job. If it last for a long time and doen't give me any problems, I would Highly reccomend this product for some one that needs a 2 bank battery charger!
