Superior Air Conditioning Components: DENSO is the world's largest supplier of A/C compressors, clutches and components. Denso's units are specified by most major vehicle manufacturers. DENSO A/C components are built to meet the stringent requirements of carmakers throughout the world for high output, extended reliability and reduced noise, vibration and harshness. The DENSO First Time Fit aftermarket line of compressors, clutches, receiver/driers and expansion valves is the result of over 30 years of engineering know-how. These products bring together everything DENSO knows as an air conditioning systems manufacturer to bring you the highest quality line of remanufactured and factory new A/C compressors available.New or Remanufactured, The Same High Standard When it comes to remanufactured product, you can't do better than going with a unit remanufactured by the OE supplier. DENSO knows these units better than anyone - because they originally built them. Each unit goes through a rigorous remanufacturing process to meet DENSO's strict standards for quality. If the part does not meet their stringent specifications, it is replaced with factory-new components or the part is scrapped out.In addition to their quality remanufactured units, some applications are covered by new DENSO compressors. As always, these units are built right the first time, so they last longer and perform better.

Question : How much would a bad bearing in a car air conditioning compressor cost to fix?
I think that is what is wrong with my car. Also, is it necessary to fix? The air conditioning still works.
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/?qid=20080510192633AAv22pc
Answer:
Simple question, trick answer.
You didn't say what type car. Different type compressors require different amounts of effort to replace the bearings. This is one of the few jobs it is easier and cheaper to replace the item then fix it. As said by others $400-500 to fix, but a whole new rebuilt compressor is $100-175, $30 to drain and refill freon, $75-100 labor. A used one from the junkyard is about $40. The old one will work until either the bearing seizes up or tears the seal behind it out causing loss of freon.
Either way, depending on your model car, remove the fan belt that drives the A/C until fixed. When the bearing seizes, the belt will snap and whip around the engine breaking wires and other connectors. Does it need to be fixed? If you have old type fan belts, no. When the bearing lets go, see above. If your car has just one wide belt going everywhere, heck yes. When the belt breaks the water pump and alternator will stop turning causing over heating and dead battery.

Question : Just installed an air conditioning compressor in my ford escort and now the compressor wont cut on. Any ideas?
Had my car looked at by an auto shop and they said the compressor was shot, thought if I just replaced the compressor it would work again. There is no leaks in the system and the blowers work fine. Could it be electrical?
Answer:
If you just installed a new compressor did you evacuate the system and rechage it? If not you need to take it back to a repair shop and have them do it for you. If the system does have freon in it then it could be electrical. The compressor has two wires going to it that supply the coil to engage the clutch on the front of the compressor. These wires may be unhooked or you dont have enough system pressure to do it. Either way it is better to have a repair shop work on your A/C system.

Question : Air conditioning compressor locked up on a 97 cavalier?
i was looking at A/C bypass pullies and they only have 1 for the 2.2L, i have a 2.4L Z24, also the belt connects only the alternator, the compressor, and the crankshaft so i dont see how i could put a smaller belt on and bypass the compressor. (look at fig. 8 on this site) http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?ForwardPage=az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/19/12/40/0900823d80191 240.jsp what should i do? fixing the compressor isnt an option, too expencive.
wouldent running a smaller belt cause the belt tor rub at the tentioner?
Answer:
looking at the pic is will be difficult to bypass. you'll need to run the belt directly from the crank to the alt bypassing the tensioner as well. to do it you'll have to take the alternator off, or at least really loose, slip the belt on, then tighten the alt back up. the belt has to be DEAD ON with regards to length...
not going to be fun at all. i wouldnt call it a repair, more of a "rigged up" thing thats bound to cause more problems than its worth to me...
hope this isnt your only car if you plan on shortcutting something as important as an alt belt....may be smart to get a AAA membership!!!!

Question : My 1997 honda civic Air conditioning compressor does not work. Everytime I turn it on the fuse blows.?
I've changed the fuse numerous times, but still no luck. The compressor clutch turns smooth if I turn it by hand. There are no leaks of any kind and the system is charged. I've checked the relays and they work fine. I'm thinking is the compressor going bad, but not sure, please help!
Answer:
You have a short.

Question : 02 F Windstar replaced the air conditioning compressor - is the clutch apart of compressor?
one month ago i replaced the compressor - when running the air it is making a dragging noisy - very loud. Could it be the clutch? Is the clutch apart of the compressor?
Answer:
Yes the clutch is part of the compressor when fitted with a new or used compressor. The compressor might not have been properly filled with freon, Or there is no oil in the compressor. If there is no oil in it your gonna end up with a bad compressor again shortly. Also the accumulator may need to be replaced! If the old compressor went bad you really should replace the accumulator, And the orifice tube filter! The partials from the old compressor that went bad may have clogged these devices up. This will wear out your new compressor in no time. And also cause the whole Ac system to labor, Or strain itself to work properly.

Question : Why doesn't my air conditioning compressor come on?
I have a 1998 Chevy astrovan. The fuses and the relays are all in proper working order both under the dash and the hood.Everything blows fine but I do not hear the compressor kick on so that it will blow cold air. What could be the problem?
Answer:
Probably low on freon, the low pressure switch keeps the compressor from running.

Question : Change an air conditioning compressor, 98 CR-V?
I have a 98 CR-V with a bad air conditioning compressor. Can it be replaced by a do-it-yourselfer with a friend who is very handy with cars? Do I need any special tools or equpment? Is it better to buy the thing and have a shop install it? Thanks.
Answer:
If you dont have knowledge of a/c systems, a vacuum pump and a set of gauges, you should take it to a shop>
